You are right to how dangerous this movement is to our liberty.
The agenda of the left is to forcefully re-define the Constitution whereas sexuality of all sorts is considered a special protected right of expression in public while at the same time they attack the expression in public of any and all traditional values (family values, and religious values).
Eventually sexuality will be used as the premise for dissolving parental rights completely being that the leftwing media will continue to fight tooth and nail against decency standards in public and will continue to target childen with campaigns meant to over-sexualize them.
Of course if they can tell the people that they have no right to representation on the issue of marriage or on the issue of whether homosexuality is dangerous to society then they will have set a precedent for denying the people the right to representation on other issues of sexuality – including the age of consent.
This serves the leftwing well because with the destruction of family units and parental rights the state can then step in and start being the main force in the indoctrination of every child in society.

When it came to feminism, the left would call opposition to feminism (and related fetishes like abortion) as “anti-women”. We have the same thing here. opposing the radical activists in any form is ‘anti-gay’.
Obviously throwing bible quotes and calling homosexuals immoral etc. only serves to drive gays to the other side and gives credence to the connection. Still its not a valid one: The interests of the group and the lefts use of that group for social engineering are two things.
At some point, non-radical gays and others would need to balance their own “live and let live” needs with wider concern for society. Do they want to see religious freedom suppressed in order to squash dissent over sexual morality?

Interesting discussion on the thread. The pie in the sky idea that the government should "get out" of marriage in the sense of marriage providing no legal protections is just so much hookah-fluff. Married people have always had a different social and legal status than single people and for good reason - protection of children, the household in common, and the marital relationship. Marriage is the foundation of human civilization. Marriage has always meant a man and a woman.
