When Keyes got nowhere in the Republican primaries, he decided to seek the Constitution party nomination, but lost at their convention after being denounced in a speech as a neo-con who had been a Republican until a week before. After that defeat, Keyes formed America's Independent Party (Not to be confused to the American Independent Party. Or maybe TO be confused with it.)
In November, Keyes won 47, 768 votes nationally. That's less than a third of what Cynthia McKinney got for the Green Party and a quarter of what Chuck Baldwin got for the Constitution Party. And less than one percent of what John McCain got.
Thanks for the info Bubba. That being the case, I totally agree with your position. I love Alan Keyes but I too believe we need to clean house at the GOP as opposed to allowing these liberal IMPOSTERS to run us out of our own party. Why should WE be the one’s who have to leave.
We have a conservative platform; we just need to require that the platform be protected and inforced. I think we can be a “big tent” - but only in the sense that RINO’s should be given asylum in our party - not positions of leadership. If they want to support conservatives candidates because they identify with the conservatives more than the Democrats - great. They should not be allowed to run as Republicans - period.
I started a petition in this regard to put them on notice. You can check it out at http://www.GOPebema.com
I still love Keyes and what he stands for - but I will not abandon the Republican Party. The GOP needs an enema - and we’re going to GIVE IT TO THEM IN 2010.
SPINCHTER, COLLINS & SNOWE ARE GONE!!!! Let them run Democrat. They are a cancer in the GOP.
Best regards.
