>> They do not have SEAL teams...nor even snipers...onboard.

One word: “Helicopter”.

The bainbridge did not have any helos just drones. A normal fit for a burke class is two sh60 helos.

The Frigate and Destroyer can land a small helicopter, but it would take several trips to get a SEAL team and their supporting, specialized equipment aboard.

I'm fairly certain you could not hoist and land a mini-sub on either, much less launch it.

Too simply drop SEALS with small arms in the water near the lifeboat will do little besides get them shot.

I would like to see the Seals attach a line to the underside of the lifeboat and then tow it away from shore

Under cover of darkness the seals could then do their thing

The President seems to be making several Carter-like mistakes, including having this play out on television and letting the press mold public opinion by being able to cover each little event. He should have asked the military for options and then chosen one and proceeded

He seems to still be in campaign mode rather than acting in the best interest of the United States. He appears to be frozen and waiting for public opinion polls.

Achh! Where are the adults in this administration?
