BERLIN (AFP) Germany's environment minister warned on Saturday that if Washington does not go beyond its current greenhouse gas cutting commitments, agreement on a new climate pact this year will prove difficult.
So far, the Obama administration has agreed to cut heat-trapping greenhouse gasses only to 1990 levels, far short of European Union commitments.
"If the United States isn't ready to go further than that, things are going to be very difficult in Copenhagen," minister Sigmar Gabriel told AFP, referring to a key summit to be held in December which will look to draft a new version of the Kyoto Protocol climate treaty.
Moscow must also agree to further cuts, while China and India will be key in the negotiations, he added.

Just say No!
If Henry Morgenthau had his way Germany wouldn’t be producing any greenhouse gases today.
I seem to recall Germany hasn’t held to its share either. But I think the US needs at the very least to tie its cuts to those made by China, India and Ethiopia.
You said — Just say No!

You better believe it — just say no is right... :-)
Its one thing to gripe and complain about these things and disagree with it, but its quite *another* to convince your friends and neighbors and relatives and coworkers...
THEREFORE..., its also absolutely necessary for people to know the information in the following documentary. If there were simply *one* video that you could see and/or show people you know... this would be the *one*...
The following is an *excellent* video documentary on the so-called Global Warming I would recommend it to all FReepers. Its a very well-made documentary.

Can’t blame the Germans for their attitude. It would certainly be good for them.
If America deindustralizes, they’ll be more room in the marketplace for German goods.
Well there's your problem.
To get back to the Stone Age, we have to go much further back...
We love our flowers in America!
Try and take 'em. {: > )
Obama has the spine of a jellyfish and the brains to match.
Sure. As long as you consider per-capita figures.
Germany can kiss my bratwurst...
Hey Thank you for the Info I will use it.
You’re welcome...
If it’s just “one video” you want *this* is the one... :-)
Yes that should get people into the street very quick.
The rest of us are going to have to make a lot of cuts to make up for Obama’s pizza and Al Gore’s energy guzzling house.
Well I don't know about into the streets, but cutting CO2 to 1990 levels without Nuclear in the mix will sharply increase prices with little or zero chance of actually reaching that goal. But for the Democrats it has never really been about reducing the CO2 levels, it's all about finding new sources of revenue for the government and transferring wealth to their primary constituents.
Mind your own business Germany. If you are stupid enough to believe that green house gas hokum then you are no better than France.
They can do pretty much what their dirty hearts desire thanks to The ineptitude of the last so called Republican house and President.
