BRITAIN was just “10 days from disaster’’ when police swooped on terror suspects allegedly plotting to blow up shoppers and young partygoers.
Evil al-Qaida bombers were ready to unleash the UK’s bloodiest ever attack with a series of bombs near the home of Manchester United, security sources confirmed last night.
The gang had targeted three shopping centres – including one close to United’s Old Trafford stadium – for a horror assault on “western hedonism”.
And they planned to blow up the city’s trendy Birdcage nightclub, often packed with celebrities including the champions’ star striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Police realised the terrorists were about to strike after unearthing coded emails and internet chat.
Last week undercover officers watched as some of the men filmed the city’s busy St Ann’s Square and snapped each other outside the Arndale and Trafford centres and the Birdcage.
“Specific targets were never mentioned in the chatter but these men were not tourists and taking these pictures was highly suspicious,” said a source.
“They were a highly credible threat and several dates listed on emails indicated a strong chance they may have moved within 10 days.’’
Police suspect some of those arrested had undergone training at terror camps in their native Pakistan before heading to the UK on student visas. Some are also thought to have links to Finland.

If I had had my way I would have been merrily rolling bullets in pork and publicly executing them and sending videos (or dvds) to the leaders of each and eveyr single muslim country.
Then following up with a phone call to see how they are dealing with the terrorists in their countries and find out if whether or not I would need to send any troops.
