NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- Pirates and U.S. warships are racing to the spot in the Indian Ocean where an American sea captain is being held hostage by a handful of pirates.

A Nairobi-based diplomat says the pirates holding Capt. Richard Phillips have summoned assistance. He says skiffs and motherships are heading toward the area from the coast.

These pirate boats that are racing to the scene are putting Americans in jeopardy. They should be sunk.

The problem will be is that some of the pirate boats that are racing to the scene are previously captured boats with their own hostages on them. This is going to get even messier soon. AP Top News at 10:48 a.m

"The American captain held hostage by four Somali pirates made a desperate escape attempt Friday but was recaptured, and officials said other pirates sought to reinforce their colleagues by sailing hijacked ships with other captives aboard to the scene of the standoff. A Somali in contact with a pirate leader said the captors want a ransom and are ready to kill the hostage, Capt. Richard Phillips, if attacked."

can we condemn Hillary for giggling through her opinions on the pirating situation? If that were my husband who were captain I would be screaming from the rooftop about her seeming lack of control.

My point being SHE would not have been a suitable substitute for obama...NEITHER should have ever gotten remotely close to the WH...let alone electing one or the other of them [many FReepers rooting for hillary] in the expectation that electing one of these two would teach the GOP it’s much needed lesson! That’s my point.

That point I agree with entirely.

They are both hideous traitors of the worst sort.

"Piracy and terrorism will end when we decide that the ratio of casualties should be 10,000 to one."

You are correct. America lost its one great opportunity to get this hostages vs nation bit correct with the Pueblo. We should have sent this message to North Korea:

"The USS Pueblo, is sovereign United States Territory. Its crew are United States military men who have sworn to give their lives for their country.

The United States of America values its sovereignty over the lives of hostages. We will not negotiate.

You have eight hours to return our ship, its crew, (having suffered no further harm) and everything that was on our ship -- back to international waters -- and remove all your personnel from it.

If the Pueblo is still in Wonsan harbor after eight hours has passed, we will sink it ourselves -- with the largest hydrogen bomb in our arsenal.

We will also drop another such weapon on Pyongyang.

The clock has started...

There is at least a .99 probability that the North Koreans would have complied.

Either way, that would have been the end of capturing American vessels and planes and their crews -- by anyone...

“Now that he has allowed this to escalate into a REAL International crisis...”

zer0 either intentionally allowed this to balloon into what it is now, or is (correctly) seen as so incredibly incompetent by our enemies there’s no fear of U.S. power. Another thing I’m wondering: whether any of these “pirates” have at any time taken up residence in Minnesota.

So we give him an adaboy for letting it get to the point where dozens of people had to die? Karnack the Magnificent could not have predicted a strategy like that to turn out to his benefit.

From the AP, Pirates recapture US hostage after escape attempt

..............."Mohamed Samaw, a resident of the pirate stronghold in Eyl, Somalia, who claims to have a "share" in a British-owned ship hijacked Monday, said four foreign ships held by pirates are heading toward the lifeboat. A total of 54 hostages are on two of the ships — citizens of China, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, Tuvalu, Indonesia and Taiwan.

"The pirates have summoned assistance — skiffs and mother ships are heading towards the area from the coast," said a Nairobi-based diplomat, who spoke on condition on anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media. "We knew they were gathering yesterday."

Samaw said two ships left Eyl on Wednesday. A third sailed from Haradhere, another pirate base in Somalia, and the fourth one was a Taiwanese fishing vessel seized Monday that was already only 30 miles from the lifeboat.

He said the ships include the German cargo ship Hansa Stavanger, seized earlier this month. The ship's crew of 24 is made up of five Germans, three Russians, two Ukrainians, two Filipinos and 12 from Tuvalu.

Another man identified as a pirate by three different residents of Haradhere also said the captured German ship had been sent.

"They had asked us for reinforcement, and we have already sent a good number of well-equipped colleagues, who were holding a German cargo ship," said the pirate who asked that only his first name, Badow, be used to protect him from reprisals.".............

Yea, I heard there was a constant stream of keebler trucks unloading crackers to the White House for the big dumb parrot! That’s it, he needs pirates for a shoulder to set on.

Do we have a characature cartoonist Freeper? Characature of Odumbo as a parrot setting on Georgie’s shoulder reading from a teleprompter while Georgie is typing in the text.

Has “The One” had anything to say about this? His Teleprompter has had a few days to think about it. I realize these pirates aren't Corporate CEO’s, but the situation at least calls for some harsh language.

For Clooney and Jolie to arrive.

Clooney to intimidate them and Jolie to distract them by trying to convince them to let her adopt one or two of their children.

“It also is not a very “Christian” response, I suppose.”

Christ, when he decides to come back, is bringing a sword and he said he didn’t come to bring peace but a sword.

Trust Christ to have every tool handy.
