When you're the president of the United States, only the best pizza will do - even if that means flying a chef 860 miles.
Chris Sommers, 33, jetted into Washington from St Louis, Missouri, on Thursday with a suitcase of dough, cheese and pans to to prepare food for the Obamas and their staff.
He had apparently been handpicked after the President had tasted his pizzas on the campaign trail last autumn.
'It's surreal, it's a huge honour,' said Mr Sommers, who owns Pi restaurant in St Louis.
'It will be a casual lunch and hopefully we'll have a chance to say hello to the president.'
Mr Somers was accompanied by this business parnter Ryan Mangilardo who will help prepare the dinner for 140 this evening.
It will feature his signature dishes - ten deep dish and ten thin crust creations.
He is also planning a pizza especially for the president - the Hyde Park topped with chicken and hot sauce.

Perfect, just as we all sign our checks to our masters at the federal government, Obama orders in. At least Jimmy Carter wore a sweater while asking us to give things up. Obama lives it up.
The WH has a whole staff of fabulous chefs. Aren't they good enough for the king and queen?
After putting my share of skin in the game on April 15, I won't be able to send out for pizza for months.
Absolutely disgusting!
The chicken makes sense. I would have thought the sauce would be Russian Dressing though.

Agree — wasn’t slick the one who got ultra expensive haircuts from some guy in Beverly Hills? Or was that somebody else?
RE: “There really are two Americas forming; one with people who have access to information like this, and the rest with people who get their news from the usual sources that never report on this crap.
Im assuming that most Americans, like you and me and everyone here, would be outraged at this, but just dont know about it.”

Agree, two Americas forming — even if zero paid for this himself, it’s outrageous — what’s with all the big parties in the WH all the time now? And they are not official “state” dinners, either —
I know plenty of people who voted for either zero OR McCain who have no clue about any of this stuff. They think I’m making it up so I’ve taken to sending e-mails from media outlets (yes, often foreign) who DO report on it.
RE: “The article leaves out two key details:
1. How much it cost.
2. Who paid for it.”

Agree, but if WE paid for it, it would make great copy for our signage at ‘tea party’ anti-tax hike events on April 15!
His staff has spent the last 2 months checking out churches to determine which one 0bambi should attend, but THIS he personally handles...
"I'm like soooooo jealous!"
Five hundred dollar haircut............lol..who knew he was all about Lewinsky’s from the start.
Yeah, I'm not holding my breath that he flew in this pizza guy on his own dime. Kind of like the Inauguration festivities, (more of our tax dollars at work), apparently the largest on record. During the height of our economic woes. Kind of a 'let them eat cake' moment.
The Obama: A cheesy, half-baked, thin-skinned pie full of bull—but no beef.
This sounds like Bill Clinton getting his haircut on Air Force One which was holding up other air traffic on that day.
And it went downhill from there.
“President Bill Clinton spent a long time living down the tale of his haircut (haircut by Beverly Hills stylist Cristophe) on Air Force One as flights were delayed at Los Angeles International Airport”
Haircut Grounded Clinton While the Price Took Off

It may have been the most expensive haircut in history.
Two of Los Angeles International Airport’s four runways were shut down for nearly an hour on Tuesday, some incoming flights were delayed and Air Force One sat on the tarmac with engines running — all so that President Clinton’s Beverly Hills hairstylist, Chistophe, could come aboard and give Mr. Clinton a high-price trim before he took off for Washington.
