The thing everyone needs to know about this suggestion (... sorry, I'm going to raise my voice here ...) is that FILING FOR AN EXTENSION DOES NOT MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND THE I.R.S. A CHECK ON APRIL 15!

The automatic extension applies ONLY to the submission of your various forms and schedules. Your extension application MUST be accompanied by a check ... ideally, for a wee bit more than you calculate you owe.

(You didn't really think the KGB would let you keep your its money for another four months, did you???)
