—Banning gay marriage between consenting adults is so important —
Yes. Abortion has always been with us EVEN WHEN IT WAS ILLEGAL. Even during the 50s it was somewhere in the six-figures (exact estimates are impossible since it was illegal virtually everywhere). But same-sex “marriage” will turn the marital institution into a laughinstock—it has already done so in Western Europe. If two people of the same sex can “marry”, young people will say, then what’s the point of marriage. They’ll see it as a pointless exercise; less work to just “shack up.”

My husband told me that in the 30s, a reservoir near Peoria, IL was drained and they found more than a dozen infant bodies. Desperate people will always do someting desperate if they are desperate enough. With the bad economy, who knows what aweful things are happening.

They will do what they are already doing. They will live together until they decide to buy a house, have a baby, or make some other major commitment. Then they will marry because of the legal implications. This is one of the reasons that gays want to get married. Also for older and sick gays there is the issue of hospital visitation and inheritance.
