I would like to step outside the box for a moment. I assume that in this case when we talk about the lose of Israel, we think mostly of Iran armed with nukes. The PLO/PA nor Hamas is not going to capture anything,, except from each other.

So lets imagine that tomorrow we wake up and find that Iran has multiple functioning nuclear warheads mounted on long range and accurate missiles. Lets further imagine that there is no doubt these weapons are tested and ready for use.

So now what?

Seriously, what does Iran do?

Fire these weapons at Israel? Does Iran really intend to reduce Islam's 3rd holiest site (The Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem) to a radiated molten puddle?

Think about the kittens the Muslim world had when someone posted a picture of Muhammad in a foreign newspaper. Yet they are going to accept the lose of the Dome of the Rock?

Hit Tel-aviv? Possible. Yet the are the prevailing winds to consider. Israel is a very small place. Fallout will poison Jerusalem.

I have felt for some time that the “state” of Israel is different from the “nation” of Israel. The state was not fought for and won; it was established by people who didn't necessarily has the best interests of the Jews in mind. The state refuses to set the cornerstones for the Temple. The state may indeed fall, but from the ashes the Nation may well rise. It is just my opinion and not worth the bandwidth is written on.
