Chief Cabinet Secretary Hosoda of Ruling Conservative Party in Japan (LDP) rakes former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and top US State Department Negotiator Christopher Hill over the coals for their appeasement of and being fooled by North Korea.

Calls them both "weak-kneed" 弱腰 (yowagoshi = "weaklings") and very mistaken in their tactics with North Korea at the "Six Party Talks" (which Hill handled for the US). He went on to say the two were totally hoodwinked and now Japan is in a very dangerous situation. Several persons at the LDP event said that Japan must move forward to defend itself and even one lawmaker (unquoted) as saying the atmosphere is even to the point of Japanese starting to consider the advisability of developing their own nuclear weapon(s) in defense.

The original Japanese is amazing. To have US officials singled out by name is pretty rare, the article says.

Let me tell you, an ocean of bitter tears is going to be wept because of what amounts to a concerted criminal neglect by the world’s democracies of the threat posed by rogue states like North Korea. And there will be an ocean of blood to accompany the tears.

In years past, the US would have taken out targets in Iran and North Korea if we thought they were moving towards hav ing nuclear weapons or ICBM’s. But the Iraq War made the Bush administration gun shy.

I always figured that the thing the Chinese fear most is a nuclear armed Japan. But that’s what they’ll get if they aren’t careful.

Without the Americans and Japanese to check them, the Chinese are starting to throw their weight around, but I bet they still fear the potential of Japan.

Let them take care of it then and we can save our defense dollars for ourselves.

Money, bitches!

Show us the dough.

These operations cost a lot, and now we speak in terms of Trillions.

Including the US cost of the Marshall plan, and the effects of your economic warfare (dumping) you're very likely starting out with a huge negative number.

Put up or shut up.

The Japanese cannot count on the United States using it’s military or nuclear weapons to defend Japan from China nor North Korea and should develop their own nuclear weapons and missiles. They need to be able to stand against China and North Korea on their own.
