Many in the military are wanting a push for the F-35Last I read the planes were designed to work in concert. The F-35 needs the top cover provided by the F-22 in order to exploit its (the F-35's) full tactical capabilities.
I don't know enough to tell whether that is true or not.

The F-35 ought to be the one given the axe IMO.
The USAF version is only a marginal improvement over the F-16 it’s intended to replace.
