And FWIW, Jimmy Carter nearly lost the cold war to the USSR in four short years.

"Jimmy Carter nearly lost the cold war to the USSR in four short years."

Yes, but failing to lose that one, he more than made up for it with Iran...the gift that just keeps on giving.

Obama is well on his way to out doing Jimmy in every category and it's only been a few months since he's gotten started. We've got a few YEARS worth of more obama to get through and survive. Imagine that legacy if you dare.

Sooner or later, Horowitz may forced to come around to the reality of the obamanation.

He put Volcker at the Fed, which broke the inflation. He started the build up we know as the Reagan build up, and created US central command and the rapid deployment force that grew into the expeditionary forces we used in the gulf. Carter was a lousy president, no question. But the US state is a much stronger thing that you suppose, and its strength much less dependent on headline partisan politics than anyone in either party pretends. Professionalism in the bureaucracy has more to do with our ruling the world than partisan anything, and pols are mostly clowns dancing on the stage and taking credit for things other men do. You can count the exceptions on one hand.
