UN Security Council Adjourns Without Response to North Korea Rocket Launch

The U.N. Security Council met in emergency session on Sunday afternoon to discuss concerns over North Korea's launch of a long-range rocket. But the closed-door consultations did not produce a clear and unified response.

Diplomats say the council was unified in its deep concern over the launch, but that it could not immediately agree what form its response should take.

The United States and Japan say they want a clear message in the form of a Security Council resolution condemning the launch.

U.S. Ambassador, Susan Rice said "It is our view that this action merits a clear and strong response from the United Nations Security Council. We will be embarked on additional consultations with partners in the Security Council as well as allies and concerned parties outside of the Security Council towards obtaining that kind of outcome."

This was never in doubt. China, who has ALWAYS held NK’s leash, vowed to veto any sanctions before the Security Council ever met.

Right now China has much to gain by keeping things destablized for Japan and the US. They fear Japan (check out your WWII History) and they hate US. NK keeps both off balance, and keeps our eyes off of China.

Naturally, Obama will do NOTHING about this. Hey, the UN didn’t do anything, so the problem doesn’t exist. Best case Scenario: Japan tells the world that it will immediately design, build and deploy both an anti-missile shield and tactical/strategic nuclear weapons, will increase their miliatary size and spending, and will — if necessary — share said technology with the South Koreans in the absence of a responsible US counteraction.

Then of course the UN Security council would JUMP to impose sanctions on JAPAN. What a freaking mess.... and it’s got to get worse before it gets better.

Tell me again, why are we a member of this Keystone Kops group? And why are we paying for the “privilege”?

My guess is Toyota and Honda could make some really first class weapons if they put their minds to it. China had better really beware pushing Japan to the wall.
