William M. Welch II: What will Teddy Kennedy get you if you eliminate a Republican Senator?

How about a nice cozy job as U.S. Attorney for the state of Massachusetts? Never know, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

From an article written February 12, 2009: “A former Springfield prosecutor who rocketed to a high-ranking spot in the U.S. Justice Department is vying for the top law enforcement job in Massachusetts….”

“Welch, a registered Democrat [emphasis added], served in the Springfield U.S. Attorney’s office from 1995 to 2006, where he built a reputation as a brainy, unrelenting prosecutor….”

“Historically, the senior senator [Fat Sir Teddy] from the president’s party picks nominees for U.S. Attorney and other senior judicial posts. But, President Barack Obama will ultimately forward a candidate’s name to the Senate Judiciary Committee for confirmation….”

William M. Welch II was head of the prosecutorial team that prosecuted Sen. Ted Stevens. For you who are lazy like me, I will make this easy for you to understand what happened. The prosecutors lied and schemed and hid evidence that exculpated the Senator. The prosecution claimed that Stevens accepted $188,000 in home improvements from an oil company. His defense was that he had paid $160,000, and he thought that was the fair market value of the improvements. The key prosecution early on told the prosecutors that Sen. Stevens was never billed, had asked for a bill, and would have paid if any bill had been submitted. But that was never told to the defense and the jury never heard that evidence.

And William M. Welch II was responsible for that travesty. The VERY NEXT DAY after the previous article came out, he was held in contempt by the Judge for withholding evidence and disobeying the Court’s Order. now he wants to be U.S. Attorney of Massachusetts.

I believe there is a big scandal for Democrats in the Stevens case. These Democrat prosecutors had a history of problems. Now the head prosecutor appears to be headed to Massachusetts. Here are the pieces we need to make the very public case for Beige's removal. Just one person in Beige's campaign that had contact with these prosecutors directly or indirectly. That would be enough to make the public case for Beige's removal. The Democrats won't do it but it will keep this mess at their feet and it is at their feet. This is why Holder shoveled this case full of crap out the door as soon as he could. What we need now is Ted Stevens to sue the Government and for good measure Beige. Claim collusion and get some headlines. Make the Senate Dem leadership squirm.

The real reason that DOJ dropped charges against Stevens is because the judge in the case wanted an investigation of prosecutorial misconduct. The whole Steven's case was orchestrated by the Democrats from the beginning, it had nothing to do with renovating Steven's vacation home. Now it seems the people involved are being paid off for their efforts. DC and the MSM are completely corrupt. I don't know if this will ever be investigated.

The same thing happened to Curt Weldon. The FBI, raided
his offices two weeks before election. Weldon’s numbers
dropped and he lost to Sestek who was supported by Sandy Berger,
the Clintons, John Podesta. It was a dirty trick but Repubs did
nothing to help Weldon and Bush, apparently didn’t care what
the FBI was up to.

That should not avoid an investigation.

these prosecutors are lawyers and their licenses are regulated by their respective Bars.

Nifong lost his license over this.

These prosecutors should do the same.

IN FACT THE JUDGE HAS A AFIRMATIVE DUTY TO REPORT THIS TYPE OF PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT.

Dropping the charges does not imunize the lawyers.

Make you wonder how many "little people" are languishing in jail because of this jerks political agenda.

There needs to be a full investigation and the guilty need to do serious jail time. If there is any connection between the Begich campaign and the prosecution the should be jail time for election fraud as well!

There is no other way to restore confidence in the corrupt federal judicial system.

You're right and I truly hope William Welch, Brenda Morris and the other prosecutors responsible for this are disbarred and spend a long time in prison. I also hope Stevens files a lawsuit against them and wins substantial damages. I just don't know if this is ever going to happen.

Rep. Weldon was targeted for personal destruction by the Democrats. Weldon was on the Select Committee on National Security and Military/Commercial Concerns with the People's republic of China. He investigated and spoke out about the Clinton Administration transferring technology to the Chicoms. Weldon also wrote a book Countdown to Terror about the cover up of Clinton Administration actions prior to 9/11.
Interestingly, though his office was raided prior to the election in 1986, once he lost the election no charges were ever brought against Weldon.

Right. I blame Bush for letting a rogue FBI bring down
Weldon. No one stood by Weldon and the republican leadership
let this happen without a fight. They did this to Bob Dornan
too when Loretta Sanchez stole the election. The Dems will
fight tooth and nail for a seat. The Repubs shrink back. Those
FBI files the Clinton’s have must have them all scared!

What kind of defense would allow such key evidence to never be heard by the jury?

>>The Dems will fight tooth and nail for a seat. The Repubs shrink back.<<

If the GOP will not fight, then do the decent thing and disband. We are past the point where ideas will carry the day. I was always taught that if someone hits you, then you hit back - harder.

Yes, I know all about the biblical reference to “turn the other cheek”; but nowhere does it say to let anyone slap you silly.

Was Weldon cleared?

We have the same thing in a way with Tom DeLay. Indicted years ago, got indictment partially tossed out .... and has NOT gone to trial. It was a bogus indictment that should have never been, but the Travis DA is a partisan Democrat.

And what about the Montana GOP Senator in 2006? A few “Abramoff connections” that were weaker than the corrupt acts of Harry Reid, and he was offed. Did he end up getting cleared? I dont recall any legal action.

I think that since the Clinton years, there are constant dirty
tricks played by Dems but they are never called on it.
I think the Bob Bennett gambling story, the Rush Limbaugh
oxycontin were manipulated for maximum exposure by
people like Rahm Emmanual.

Let’s not forget that the ‘ethics group’ CREW, which was run by ex-Kerry campaign folks, managed to time the Foley story release for maximum political benefit. They had been sitting on that piece of information for a year, and it was about an event that was 4 years old in 2006.

Was Weldon cleared? Interesting question. See this article from the Feb. 14, 2009 Philadelphia Daily News which suggest Weldon and his daughter may (or may not) walk.

Weldon’s numbers dropped and he lost to Sestek who was supported by Sandy Berger, the Clintons, John Podesta.

So let me get this right .... the guy Weldon was sandbagged by Sandy Burglar, the Rapist and his Beast, and the Rapist's former Chief of Staff and Head Exculpator, now Propagandist-in-Chief.

That's pretty rich. Lotta chutzpah for a crime gang from Arkansas.

And 43 didn't lift a finger? What is it with 43 and his Clinton paralysis? Slick and Beast set off land mine after land mine under his administration (the yellowcake affair, the Plame affair, 9/11 finger-pointing, the Louisiana state shutout of FEMA during "Katrina," the Mark Foley scandal, and on and on and on), and he just took it, and took, and took -- and then they went after other Pubbies and he didn't lift a finger to help them, either. Bill McCollum, Henry Hyde, the Hutchinsons in Arkansas, Bobby Jindal, Bob Barr. All blackjacked by the Clinton Crime Gang, and Manor Bush has no response whatsoever.

the Pubs are going to have to learn to be as crooked and devious as the rats ....however, it won’t fly, since the media boys protect their rat friends.....
