What are you talking about "Republican Revolution?" Newt certainly got the federal budget under control and was able to get a budget surplus from 1998 that lasted through 2001.

Slick Willie was more fiscally conservative than Bush. I have a hard time using the words "conservative" and "Bush" in the same sentence.

In 1995, Gingeich tried to push through some major reforms in government spending but he failed to educate the public. The Republican Contract With America proposed tax cuts and a balanced budget without naming any actual programs to be cut, so the Republicans failed.

Bill Clinton did NOT get to what he claims was a “balanced budget” due to spending cuts.
Instead, the Republican Congress, led by Newt Gingrich, got Clinton to sign off on Capital Gains Tax Cuts, which INCREASED IRS revenues dramatically.
Clinton was also forced into signing “Welfare Reform” which helped reduce spending and put people back to work, which helped “balance” the budget.

The truth is that George W. Bush DID reduce what is called “discretionary” spending.

The problem Bush had was that he did create the Part D RX entitlement. However, in hindsight? Hey, there is NO reason for this Congress to TOUCH health care for the over 65 or Medicare crowd, not much anyway. W might have given us a firewall which will be be grateful for, down the road.

Also, W had to deal with 8-11, Iraq and Afghanistan and several natural disasters, which all cost money.

I wish W had vetoed a few budget bills, but I think you need to get off his back, a bit.

Obama is the biggest spender in US history. Lets concentrate our fire on HIM, ok?

Slick Willy was not a fiscal conservative.. The only reason why he was one was due to the fact he had no votes to pass his real programs.. Remember he fought against the balance budget...
