Homemade dynamite?

It all started when police pulled a car over and searched it for drugs.

Inside they found what looked like a bomb.

The bomb squad disrupted the device which was apparently homemade out of a road flare.

There are quite a few common chemicals that can be made to go “boom”, or act as oxidizers and accelerants. Dynamite and TNT are quite stable. Some of the homemade stuff emits vapors that penetrate flesh and bone during the manufacture process. Nasty stuff. And very, very thermal dynamic. Too hot or too humid; and a whole bunch of living things die.
