FOUNTAIN VALLEY – A grocery store butcher arrested on suspicion of slicing a 47-year-old delivery driver with a large jagged knife, crushing his skull and nearly cutting off his nose may have been hired by the man's roommate as part of love triangle, authorities said.

The butcher and his accused accomplice are both behind bars in lieu of $1 million bail.

Blood-curdling screams for help woke neighbors in the 17300 block of Euclid Street just before 6 a.m. March 3. Frank Sharpski, a married father of three, had just left his apartment to go to work as a FedEx contract driver when he was attacked by a man with a large knife, said Fountain Valley police Lt. Jim McNeff said.

The screams were "chilling," neighbors told investigators. Some even said they heard the blows of the knife pounding Sharpski's body as he fought for his life.

Sharpski's body had been sliced over and over by a large knife. His thumb, index finger and middle finger on his left hand had been severed.

His skull had been fractured and his nose had nearly been cut from his face. His attacker left him for dead. Officers found his battered and bleeding body in the alley near carports at the apartment complex in which he lives, McNeff said.

He was semiconscious when officers found him but remained in critical condition for several weeks after the attack, McNeff said.

"Right off the bat, we felt this was a very personal attack, based on the severity.

“Butcher May Have Been Paid To Slice Man In Love Triangle”

So this isn’t a humorous story, but seriously, does any editor read the headlines before they put them out?
