I think you missed dalereed's point.

The article tried to tie this to rocket fuel,which is likely to be only a minor source of perchlorates in the environment. In other words, the author seems to have an agenda.

No but i’ve breathed plenty and eaten plenty in small amounts over the years.

I really liked trichlorethelene but they banned it.

Perchlorates are not used in cleaning solvents, carburator cleaner and dry cleaning!

The chemical used in these ways most often, perchlorethylene, has a similar sounding name but is completely different chemically. It’s also present in the environment in much higher quantities than perchlorates.
