Beginning Monday morning, the Grandy and Andy Morning Show will expand to 5 hours! The Grandy and Andy magic starts at 5am and won’t stop until 10am (or slightly earlier if Fred starts to choke on his daily ration of mixed nuts.)

Between 5 and 9am, it’s all of the great stuff you’re accustomed to: 20 minutes of news and views commercial free at the top of every hour, opinion and analysis, lots o’ laughs, plus traffic and weather first on the 5’s. At 9am, Fred, Andy and Bryan tackle the big story of the day with plenty of your phone calls, an occasional guest and some great surprises.

Also beginning Monday, we’re pleased to welcome Joe Scarborough to 630 WMAL. The nationally syndicated Joe Scarborough Show will air between 10am-12noon. Joe is a former U.S. Congressman and current host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Mika Brzezinski, who serves as co-host on Scarborough’s morning television show, fills the same role on radio. The Joe Scarborough Show will offer thought-provoking commentary on the day’s leading issues and will feature many of the same A-list guests his television audience has come to expect.

Sadly, The Chris Plante Show has been cancelled. I will miss Chris (and I’d guess that I’m not alone.) He is passionate, smart, crafty, funny and unpredictable. I loved listening to Chris on the air and looked forward to our daily off-air strategy meetings (when Chris did the “cable” version of his show) – if you know what I mean. Mark my words, Chris and his extraordinarily talented producer Geoff Holtzman will re-surface soon, I’m sure.

I’m excited that Joe and Mika will join our line-up. I’m thrilled that Grandy and Andy will keep us in stitches for 5 hours a day, but I will miss my friends Chris and Geoff.

Are you out of your friggin’ mind? I lived in Iowa when he was in congress. The only person who voted more liberal than Fred was Tom Harkin.

Gopher only does the conservative schtick for the show. He is a RINO’s RINO.

Absolutely; first 570am puts some weirdo lefty on opposite Rush at 12 (it’s been bought by a consortium that includes Dan Snyder & wants to “diversity” i.e., block free speech. Plante had the advantage of coming from a family of liberal journalists so he spoke with authority about how they think. This is very stupid of WMAL.

What a Crock. Chris Plante was the best talent WMAL has had in years. The Left wins again. It is time to burn a few cars and break a few windows.
