Okay IIRC the problem with landing a F4U Corsair on a carrier was the long nose blocked the pilots view of the carrier deck WHEN using the standard straight in approach.

An enterprising British Naval Avaitor figured out that if you approached the carrier in a long sweeping curve you could keep the carrier in sight until the last few minutes when the LSO was in control anyways

A couple of Corsair vids for your pleasure, not of a Corsair carrier approach unforunately.

IIRC, the Corsair was about to get scrubbed until that enterprising Brit aviator figured out how to snake it onto a carrier deck - talk about an unsung hero!
