Pro-Abortion Journalist Chris Matthews To Speak At St. Joseph's
School Chooses Chris Matthews To Give Commencement Address By Chris Freind, The Bulletin Friday, April 03, 2009 Ignoring the controversy surrounding Notre Dame’s honoring of pro-abortion Barack Obama as its commencement speaker, Saint Joseph’s University has followed suit. It will grant an honorary degree to broadcast journalist Chris Matthews at the university’s 2009 commencement ceremonies.
Despite Mr. Matthew’s Catholic education, having graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, he is widely regarded as a strong supporter of abortion rights, and was unabashed in his admiration of Mr. Obama’s positions.
Support for abortion is antithetical to the Church’s teachings.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops opposes the practice of hosting speakers who are outspoken against Catholic doctrine.
“The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles,” said the bishop’s conference in a statement. “They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”
Calls to Saint Joseph’s President Fr. Timothy Lannon went unreturned.

Orthodox have the seminaries back.... No More nuns recruiting Priest!.. the Excersize By Rome 4 years back worked we have 4 Seminarians Now from my parish maybe 2 More!!! I am Positive.. We Pray 4 Vocations at all the Masses twice during each mass! We are Building an Oratory for our Grammar school... and Have 2 students in Perpetual adoration during school Hours!! That is good to hear but there is a long road ahead. The damage done to the Catholic Church by the left is deep, destructive, significant, and current.

I remember Fr michael J Smith... he was an angel..He was in Charge of Alumni.he flew to the 1st reunion Chapter meeting.
I opened some Alumni Chapters with him in the late 70’s .. I opened two In Florida in the 1970’s one was a meeting during the Gas Crisis and I had to Pick Him up and Drive him around all weekend on a 1/4 tank of gas the Red light was on for an Hour and a half on the last day. we were Praying the Rosary the whole Ride.. Hahaha Finally we are returning back to Miami and as we are turning the Corner at 7pm at Night a Gas station OPENS for Business.. Praise the Lord! he was a priest that taught me faith! God Bless his Soul!

Absolutely, just not in this world.
I agree. I can’t understand this trend at Catholic colleges to invite people who outwardly oppose and demean the teachings of the Catholic Church. There are so many other wonderful speakers available in this country. Catholic or not. Speakers who would not be controversal and would be uplifting. What is it that the colleges are inviting from the list of those who are sinners?

Most Catholic donors are unaware of all of this or don’t really mind because they “don’t want to impose their viewws on others.”
You understand the limitations of fallen man, but the American sheeple don’t. That’s why the continue to choose failed and flawed “leaders”.
It’s sad to that it being Philly probably 2/3 of your parishoners are committed redistributionist liberals.
