Gov. Jeb Bushs Chief Medical Officer and advisor on HMO reform is running for the United States Senate to fix what he describes as a national disaster that will limit care for all and likely bankrupt the system. The cornerstone of his philosophy: If we continue to wait for people to get sick before treating them, the system will soon run out of resources.

Thorpe has rallied against socialized medicine, knowing that government run care is government rationed care. He has common sense solutions on health care, prevention of teen crime and truancy and was one of the first Republicans to oppose the bailouts in the fall (even when the bill was touted as "bipartisan." He's strongly pro-life and pro-national security. He's what every Republican candidate should be.
I am going to learn more about this candidate and possibly get involved. Charlie in the Senate sounds like a real bad idea. His lips are firmly planed on Obama’s butt. That can’t do turn out well at all for the GOP.
In addition to my private practice, an internist and I partnered up to open a preventive medicine clinic-—no insurance company would would reimburse for such services, very few people would pay out of pocket and, unless we accepted govt. grants, there was no market to be found. We ended up doing nothing but weight reduction for obese patients. After a year of that, I decided not to do that again.

I hear you. It’s a shame because preventative medicine makes economic sense as well.
Absolutely correct.
It also makes sense from the patient's point of view regarding the huge benefit of living longer and being of sufficient capacity to enjoy the journey.
