A Budget Plan Good Enough To Read
IBD Editorials ^ | April 2, 2009

Leadership: The congressional Republicans' recovery plan makes 100 times more sense than the tax-and-spend excess the White House and Congress will steamroll into law. But those in power won't give it a glance.

During both the recession of the early 1980s and the post-9/11 economic downturn, Washington successfully used big tax cuts to revive the economy. This time the other party is running both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, and we're getting some different medicine: trillions upon trillions of taxpayers' dollars spent, a reneging on the president's promise not to hike taxes on the middle class and the poor, and expiration of the Bush tax cuts.

Meanwhile, the president seems determined to establish a government health program that's sure to elbow out private plans, rob patients of their power of choice, and Frenchify American medicine.

Our inevitable entitlement crisis, festering beneath the rug under which politicians have kept it for so many years, is entirely unaddressed in the Democrats' massive tax-and-spend plans.

Congressional Republicans have countered all this irresponsibility and deceptiveness with their own detailed budget. For the sake of our children's future, Americans should become familiar with it, and insist their president and representatives at least consider it.

Spearheaded by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and with more than 60 pages of detail, the GOP budget slows the yearly growth of the federal mandatory spending programs — Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security — from its current 5.3% to 3.9%. That's far more sensible than boosting entitlement spending by $1.4 trillion over the next decade, as the president and Congress plan to do.

What Ryan and his colleagues understand that the president, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the other Democrats running Washington don't understand are basic economic laws.

What IBD does not yet allow themselves to think or believe is that is is not about budget or recovery.

It is about control.

Most people didn't want to think that Obamunism's radical associations and far-left voting records had anything to do with his future governing policies or agenda. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID SHEEPLE!!!!

I guess the next step for me personally is to organize my situation where I can survive in this new reality of total leftist control, until (if) we can undo this mess.

ACORN vote fixing, international financing of leftist candidates, redistricting, expanding entitlements, confiscating medical records, gutting defense, banning gun ownership, building a domestic police force, censorship of conservatives, confiscation of personal earnings and wealth, control of major industries...
