You think that civilian air traffic controllers are in the habit of suggesting a military air intercept when faced with 'inconclusive' radar signals? Tell us you're not THAT stupid.
It may be SOP in these cases. We are talking about Alaska, after all. Arctic gateway to our enemies, or, should I say our less friendlies.
Ahhhh and the spin begins (or should I say 'continues'?)
So what you're saying is that a veteran team of professional pilots
This thing as allaegedly flying around around them for thirty to forty minutes at fairly close range. They had a camera in the cockpit. They where Japanese for crying out loud, and they couldnt manage to get a picture of this aircraft carrier-size, well-lit mothership. Some nonsense about only having ASA100 speed film in the camera. They are Japanese for crying out loud!! They take pictures of everything!! You shoot the film and push process it afterwards. Esp. if there is the chance someone is going to question your mental faculties afterwards.
They are Japanese for crying out loud!!
Amazing.
That has got to be one of the most absurd and foolish things I have ever seen posted on FR, you've got a flight crew dealing with an unknown object flying in close proximity to their aircraft, obviously requiring their full attention, but YOU seem to think they should have behaved like tourists, got out the Nikon, and started snapping PICTURES?
Even IF that flight crew had abandoned all responsibility to start clicking the shutter for the likes of you, you would (after the fact) find yet another set of Klass-inspired reasons to naysay the photographs. You are as transparent as freshly Windex'd glass.
You must be channeling Klass.
Better than ET uncle.
You think those air traffic controllers (both military and civilian), AND the pilots were all channeling 'ET'?
I submit that if you had been up in the air with them, you would have crapped your pants and been removed from the plane as a whimpering, unnerved little baby.

Ahhhh and the spin begins (or should I say 'continues'?) Spin is what the kool aid drinkers call it.
That has got to be one of the most absurd and foolish things I have ever seen posted on FR, ...
This is a Seven-Four-Seven fer cryin' out loud, not a biplane. It practically flies itself. You mean to tell me that a pilot with 29 years experience could not find a couple minutes in those 30+ to get a couple snap-snaps?
Talk about spin.
What did the folks on the ground actually see on their radar? You don't really know, now do you?

INDEED . . .
only I think most naysayers hereon would be more inclined to become too catatonic to mess their pants . . . though that could certainly plausibly happen as they eventually came out of catatonia.
