This is what Wikipedia has to say:

Note that it says CCR was referring to Lodi NJ, but is then corrected. Since CCR were from the Bay Area it makes sense they’d be referring to Lodi, CA.

Lodi in popular culture:

The Bada Bing, is a fictional go-go bar from the HBO drama television series The Sopranos. All interior and exterior shots of the Bada Bing are filmed on location at Satin Dolls, an actual go-go bar in Lodi on Route 17.[26] Other notable locations in Lodi that were used on the Sopranos include the Party Box party supply store, Lodi High School, Lodi Pizza, a trash collection business, and several private residences in the borough.[citation needed] The borough is also mentioned on an episode of the cartoon series “Johnny Bravo” called “Damien’s Day Out.”

It is featured in the Creedence Clearwater Revival song, Lodi, where the lyrics say: “Oh Lord, back in Lodi again”.

^The statement featured above is erroneous. The song by CCR is actually about Lodi, California. It is actually quite a common town name in the U.S. with Lodi’s in Illinois, Missouri, New York, on top of Lodi, New Jersey and California. They were all probably named after the town of Lodi in Lombardy, Italy.

I drove through Lodi, CA, once, on my way from Modesto to the outskirts of a little place called Rio Linda. Possibly some Freepers have heard of Rio Linda, even though it’s miniscule. [that means “really small”, for those of you in . . . ].

With 8.5% unemployment rate there are not enough people that can qualify to buy the millions of foreclosed homes not even close. Unless of course the banks are lending subprime again and hence the horror cycle will start again.

It is Foreclosure Central in the central California farm valley. It is very nearly ground zero for the foreclosure crisis in CA.

I bought a house last December. The price was fair at $218,000 and it had a lot of intangibles going for it, not the least of which were perfect neighborhood and a lush, private BIG yard.

That said, I fully expect to lose AT LEAST my 20% down and more. My $218,000 house will likely fall to $175,000. I knew that going in. Nobody said I was brilliant.

Here is the kicker... If the price calls to $150,000 (1990 price) I won’t be entirely shocked. I’ll be here 15 years and I expect to break even within 15 years. I guess we’ll see. People who think they will be way up in 15 years are going to be in for a rude awakening.

Needless to say, I bought about 2 years too soon. That also said, houses rent for about $1,200 to $1,350/mo in my neighborhood, so I’m in the “affordable” range of 15x annual rent. In that regard, I didn’t overpay. With respect to the credit crisis, demographics, the depression and the decade or two it will take to dig out of it, well...

I bought a HOME. Not an investment.

Rush Limbaugh has been hazing Rio Linda for over 20 years, trying to stimulate them to improve their community like he did with Broderick and Bryte who merged with West Sacramento and became a respectable city, kinda like Lodi!!!

Where the heck is Lodi?

About 20 minutes South of Elk Grove, with only Galt standing in the way.

The Lodi of this article is on the northern outskirts of Stockton, California. The economy is primarily agrarian there, specializing in generic wine grapes.

Decent paying jobs are at least 80 minutes away, so it will not be bouncing back soon. Nearby Stockton is a bad news, dying place, with high crime, and ugly leftist government.

"Which Lodi was CCR singing about?"

California.

CCR was from El Cerrito, California. When they recorded the words "Born on a Bayou" they had no clue what a bayou even was. The only waters they knew were the mud flats of nearby Albany city dump on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, where they went fishing after school.

"Rush Limbaugh has been hazing Rio Linda for over 20 years, trying to stimulate them to improve their community..."

But how can it happen? Almost everyone living in Rio Linda (the name itself is bad Spanish grammar) is a government teat sucking State of California employee!
