County supervisors warned in letter they could lose state support

The continuing war of words over the controversy surrounding the possibility of dam removal on the Klamath River escalated March 17, as the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors sent a letter of response to California Resources Agency natural resources secretary Mike Chrisman. The letter was in reply to Chrisman’s threat to end support for the county’s participation in the process of looking into the status of four hydroelectric dams and the effects of their possible removal on the river system and the local economy.

Unstinkingbelievable!

This commenter at the end of the article sums it up best:

This dog and pony show was NEVER about actually 'saving' or 'restoring' anything. It was, and IS, about grabbing CONTROL over the private property, i.e., the FREEDOM, of others.

Keep up the good fight!

A RINO. I say that because the degree of arrogance as displayed in this particular article by Mr. Chrisman whom is a Republican is quite the trait of a Leftist IMO.

I’ve been witness at City Council meetings of Leftist control in which I discovered how intense the word “Arrogant” can be when that arrogance eminates from a Leftist.

At one such meeting I attended the Democrat/Leftist members of the Council forbade even the raising of a hand to ask a question to clarify one of their decisions, and to the point one hapless soul that in fact did raise his hand was ejected unceremoniously from the Chamber.

It was at this meeting that it became apparent that my company was going to go out of business at the hands of the arrogant bastard Democrats I was witnessing in action.

Within six months we did close our land intensive business as there wasn’t any land available in the area of operations we were limited to by our customer base to move our business to.

God bless these county supervisors and give them strength, stability and fearless determination in this undisguised attempt at government sponsored rural cleansing.

In case people reading this don't understand what "rural cleansing" is, it's much like "ethnic cleansing" but even more immoral because it goes directly against "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" of CA/US productive citizens in Siskiyou.

The "productive" element have already become a minority because of previous government screwing up of most economic progress in that fine county!!!

This outrage must simply be stopped now!!! They couldn't squeeze this county into Schwartzenegger's obscene land control grab with the Sierra-Nevada CONservancy agency to stop any land use GANG-GREEN groups disagree with, so now they're fishing for more devious ways to bring CA's northern tier of countys back to the stone age!!!

Schwartzenegger should be made to pay for this in political as well as other costly terms!!!

So, why would these people want to remove a source of ‘green’ energy?

California is already buying power off the grid instead of sending power down the lines - lets just shut down all of our indigenous power sources and become a consumer only...

From fishsniffer.com:

Fellow Commission member Robert Hattoy, a former Sierra Club staffer, was quoted in an Associated Press story about Chrisman's appointment, "I had heard there were Republicans who shared Teddy Roosevelt's commitment to the environment, but I never met one until I met Mike Chrisman."

I attended a Fish and Game Commission meeting in San Diego during which Hattoy stated that he didn't care how Coho salmon got into central Ca. coastal streams (they were planted) they needed endangered species protection.

Thanks for the pings. The ticket to participation in the large group of stakeholders negotiating the final Agreement In Principle was to agree to dam removal. The State, DOI and PacifiCorp sponsored our participation under an agreement that we would support a process and scientific studies leading to a determination by the DOI Secretary on the costs/benefits of dam removal, but would not have to state that we support dam removal. (We do not.)

Chrisman apparently thought that because we were seated at the table that we should sit down like good children and be seen and not heard on our considerable concerns about the scientific integrity, accountability, liability, mitigations for damages and lack of public process going forward under the AIP agreement.

It appears that they consider that they have granted us a privilege to participate in discussions concerning the potential deconstruction of three large hydropower structures in our county. It appeared from Chrisman’s letter that the State of California was threatening to remove us from the negotiations because of our advocacy for all the parties not allowed at the table who are to be substantially affected should these agreements go through - the Copco and Iron Gate reservoir landowners, the folks who live below the dams or have resorts below the dams, the city of Yreka and its water supply, the whitewater rafters, etc.

I feel like Rodney Dangerfield....

If the five of you remain united on that board and stand your ground without wavering, you could make this such a huge issue and send a message throughout America!!! That message is: "Government is NOT your friend," and is NOT a benevolent dictator, but a malevolent dictator, that destroys economic progress even though that's what it lives off like a parasite!!!"

You board members are the highest elected officials of Siskiyou County and must either command, or demand the respect of state and/or federal unelected big government bureaucrats, period!!!

If you do it, you'll eventually be very glad you did and so will all other local governments across CA and America. You are the elected government closest to the people and must stand up for their collective assets and wishes, or else you are not being the people's righteous representatives.

Please encourage your fellow board members to exercise an abundance of righteous indignation, yes, even rightous wrath on this far reaching issue.

I know you obviously know all this, but I reiterated it just in case some lurker or poster on this site hadn't had it explained to them in just the right way in the past, due in part from being indoctrinated in big government schools!!!

Do you have a Sheriff with the stones to arrest anyone who arrives to demolish the dams?

Just curious. ;-)
