Well, I know I am outraged!

I want to tell you again, about the Homily by Fr. Dominic Mary. I only was able to catch the last bit. But, would really like to hear the whole thing. I have looked for it, a great deal of this day, but decided to transcribe what I did have recorded on my TiVo.

Here, I will share it with you. I think it is powerful.

(coming in the middle of the homily)............”In this way, democracy, contradicting it’s own principles, effectively moves towards a form of totalitarianism. And the reason we bring this up today, is because our government, in the United States of America, IS becoming, if it is not already, a government a state, that is totalitarianism in nature. That is where we are at. Pretty soon I will not have the right to say what I am saying today, without being put in jail. It IS coming to that. The congress is looking at it is right now, this spring. The state is no longer the common home, where all can live together on the basis of principles of fundamental equality, but is transformed into a tyrant state, which takes to itself the right to dispose of the life of the weakest, and most defenseless members; from the unborn child to the elderly, in the name of a “public interest”, which is really nothing but the interest of ONE part of the country. And so, when people get up, and they speak out about this, they are going to be in the way, and they are going to have to be eliminated. That is where we are headed. Where the current administration is going.

Really, what we have here, is only the tragic caricature of legality. The democratic ideal, (which is only truly such, when it acknowledges and safeguards the dignity of every human person) is betrayed at it’s very foundations. How is it still possible to speak of the dignity of every human person, when the killing of the weakest and the most innocent is permitted?! It’s absolutely STUPID to say that we have to defend the rights and the dignity of each person in this country, when we can KILL the little and defenseless! It absolutely makes no sense! It is unreasonable.

When this happens, the process leading to the breakdown of a genuinely human coexistence, and the disintegration of the state itself, has already begun. The disintegration of our democracy has begun...long ago, it is well on it’s way to losing itself completely. Eventually, we will end up in anarchy, if things are not brought under control.

Now, do I say all of this to scare anybody? Or to drive home some fear-mongering mentality? No! Absolutely not. But, we have to stand up and say the truth, and defend the truth, and have a holy boldness. The church has always done that, and she will continue to do that, even at the risk of martyrdom.

And so, as today’s Psalm says, “My strength and my courage is the Lord.”

Even though it may be difficult, if we are faithful to Christ, we will one day hear the joyful shout of victory in the ‘tents of the just’.

May God give us holy boldness, and give our leaders, give our Bishops, the courage to stand up and to speak the truth and even to give their very lives if that is necessary.”
