So let me get this straight, we want to force energy companies to not emit carbon by making it expensive for them to do so, thereby raising the price of their product and reducing consumption. Then we will give government checks to the utility’s customers bringing the price of the energy back down by subsidizing the cost of the energy produced, thereby eliminating any incentive to emit less carbon.

I mean the whole AGW thing is a hoax, but how can you both penalize and subsidize something at the same time.

So let me get this straight,
They’re taking $ away from energy companies and then giving that $ to customers so that they can pay it to energy companies. Wow, guys.

The Democrat's goal is not to break the rich. That would impact too many of their biggest contributors. The goal is to force prices up so more and more middle class Americans to depend on government for basic needs....thereby making them vote for Democrats...

What a great idea: an extra layer of skimming & scamming possibilites!

So, I can pay 3 times what I do now, and allow the 'privileged leaders' to skim their share off the top of the auctions.

Then, they can "return" a portion of the artiicially inflated prices back to me, with another layer of bureaucrats paid to admiinister it, and allowing another chance at skimming.

Then (just wait; if health benefits are taxed...) I can add the 'rebate' to my income, and pay it all back to the government as taxes!

BRILLIANT!

BATF & Ag Dept have been doing it for years, with tobacco.

May will be to late. We need to put pressure on our politicians now.
The last thing we need is a new tax revenue stream for our government.
At one time Income tax was only going tax the rich. Now it applies to everyone.
At one time the AMT code was to make sure the rich paid 33% income tax rate. Now more and more middle income earners creep into the 33% rate.
