Stupid woman keeps saying we, we have a responsibility to people who bought at the top of the market and are underwater now.

So the taxpayer is suppose to take the risk of all the speculators and home buyers who bought houses at expensive prices now?

They want to obviate the need for bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy is a useful tool. What is causing the housing mess RIGHT NOW is that failure has been taken out of the equation. There is no reset button.

Imagine if a computer could never be rebooted if it locked up because the reboot button had been removed.

Obama and by extension, useful idiot huffington, do not want to reboot the system; they want to unplug the computer toss it away and give everyone an abicus missing beads for all financial work and productivity.
