Two Wheels on my Wagoner

ncidentally, the government "overhaul" of GM is a useful shorthand for where we're heading:

The first quid pro quo for the government giving you money (or "investing", as President Obama and David Brooks say) is that it gets to regulate your behavior. Not just who sits on your board or (see Sarkozy last week) where your factory has to be. When the government "pays" for your health care, it reserves the right to deny (as in parts of Britain) heart disease treatment for smokers or hip replacement for the obese. Why be surprised? When the state's "paying" for your health, your lifestyle directly impacts its "investment."

I've never seen a conservative "march".

Have you?

Most conservatives have jobs... they don't "march". It's like the joke about the million man march - " a million showed up but only 14 people missed a day of work"...

A tip of the cap to the socialists, they’re brazenly “making it happen” right before our eyes.

it would work if it happened on a weekend-there are enough people within driving distance of Washington to make it work.

Then we have our Tea Parties on the week ends and holidays, or conservatives take a 1 day holiday.

"Tea Parties" are so wonderfully conservative - and rooted in our country's quest for freedom.

"Marches" are for powerless and victims - also an important part of our history - the civil rights movement - labor movements etc... marches are where many can stand up to power by huddling together in large numbers.

But conservatives aren't "victims". We're citizens. Tea parties" are consistent with who we are...

tea party, march-I don’t care what you call it I’m pi$$ed off and feel like yelling at someone. (check out the letter I had published in the Youngstown Vindicator last week-http://www.vindy.com/news/2009/mar/27/bonus-outrage-is-misplaced/ )

I’m wondering if anyone caught the word-play with Steyn’s title. There was a pop song recorded by Dick Van Dyke called “Three Wheels on my Wagon” which made the top forty in the early sixties.
