Ratigan had a great suggestion for a housing tax credit: Provide every active member of the United States military with a $50,000 transferable homebuyer tax credit. If they don't want to buy a home, they can sell the credit to someone who does and keep the cash. The idea behind this plan is that the effort to prop up the housing market would benefit people in the armed forces -- not people who lied on mortgage applications and bought homes they couldn't afford.
It's a hard idea to argue with. Watch the video below for more.

As a vet, I'm all for helping out today's veterans who carry such a burden when the rest don't. But, I'm not sure about the transfer part - it's seems expensive.
is military service a good and patriotic VOLUNTEER act or is it just being a mercenary?
those in Iraq and Afghanistan are getting paid very well, tax free, with benefits that rival any private or public entity....medical for the family, a month vacation, paid federal holidays, education benefits, and a nice pension, even for those who never left the states....
how about a nice fat $50,000 credit for everybody that actually pays income taxes?
I'm not sure if you've ever served, but one thing is for sure, are armed forces are NOT paid very well. Perhaps to some, against the background of this economy, it seems like good, steady work. But, in a regular economic cycle, the US Military pays FAR below their civilian counterparts, and that includes the benefits.
I got out a number of years ago now, but at the time, E1s, E2s and E2s were paid below poverty level. That should tell you something.
Can’t argue with that
