President Obama didnt want any advice from Congress on the decision to ask GM CEO Rick Wagoner to resign, according to Carl Levin (D), Michigans senior senator.
He didnt ask us about it, he informed us, Levin told reporters in a conference call Monday afternoon. The president said hed already decided.
Levin said he and three other lawmakers were informed of the decision in a phone call Obama made from the Oval Office. Obama told the members of Congress that Wagoner needed to resign so that the administration could show the public it was making an effort at a fresh start with helping the auto industry, according to Levin.

Obama assures us that “Now your auto warranties will be even better!” How does he figure that?

He probably said, “Would you please resign now so that you don’t risk the loss of your retirement benefits and risk to your family?”

I keep reading this article with amazement. It is unbelievable to me that he did this and there hasn't been an outcry from Congress.
The liberals and Democrats believed in Obama's "Change" mantra, as if it meant they would be consulted. Now they are finding out that his "change" means he doesn't intend to consult with them, or any of Congress. This was just a test to see if he could push thru the envelope a bit. He got by with it and who knows what next he will decide on his own.

I wake up every morning to an alternate reality that didn’t exist the day before, and it has been less than three months into our national nightmare. Congress isn’t going to stop it. The press isn’t going to stop it. The courts aren’t going to stop it. We are going to ride the 0 express to Third World Hell. State’s Rights! Right to Work! What else can we do?

When I first read the news about this yesterday, all I could think was that Zero paid Wagoner a visit, but took Luca Brazzi with him. While Luca held a gun to his head,He assured Wagoner that either his signature or his brains would be on his resignation.Just call it an offer he couldn’t refuse!

Doesn’t the Board of Directors decide this?
Who’s Zero going to replace them with?

More importantly, he didn’t ask us shareholders either.

Thanks Ernest. If Obama wants to do something to reassure the public, he should resign. Here's the official photograph of the new congress:

If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
Levin did not directly criticize Obamas decision, but did say there is a double standard in the treatment of U.S. automakers and the financial industry, which has received tens of billions more in aid from taxpayers. Its something weve got to fight and overcome, he said of Michigan lawmakers.
Gotta tell you, folks...I'm shocked.

Aloha Ernest!
Something's wrong with this picture.....Hell's bells, everything is wrong with this picture.
I suspect Wagoner presented a plan to get the bucks in good faith; Obama or his people rejected it at which point Wagoner tossed in the Chapter 11 card, which would allow reorganization and cancel the Union contracts. There's no way GM's case was going through the legal system; this would make him an anathema to all parties concerned......he had to go.
Don't know how he was forced to resign (got fired) and haven't heard anything from the Board of Directors regarding this power play by the Obama administration and it's apparatchiks.
