Dr. Marion Thorpe had a hard time breaking away from guests at the Republican Liberty Caucus national convention at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Jacksonville. Hes an easy person to talk to and he knows how to listen. As both a doctor and healthcare administrator, Thorpe brings a unique set of skills to the table where the costliest, most vital issue is healthcare, especially in his home state of Florida.
Thorpe has far more experience than sitting or wannabe senators. As Chief Medical Officer of Floridas Agency for Health Care Administration, Thorpe often fought with HMOs to provide patients with preventative treatments. He did so by convincing them that doing so was not only necessary for patients to remain healthy, but also that promoting healthy living and preventative treatments would save costs on far more expensive catastrophic and emergency treatments down the road. During an interview with The US Report, Thorpe said the Health and Human Services czar determines patient treatment based on usefulness to society. He recalled a morbidly obese 11 year old who wasnt able to get treatment he needed. And he had private insurance, said the doctor. Any treatment to be administered goes through HHSthis has been written into law.

Well, he doesn’t sound like an Obama suck-up like Crist.
He’s a great conservative and a needed voice. Check out his full platform at http://www.marionthorpe.com/ (platform and latest news)
Is he campaigning for 2010 already?
Nice, I am a member of the RLC. What are his main positions he’s pushing??
Sure is - a lot are getting off to an early start.
Remember how pitiful the Dems were (I mean they still are, but I’m talking about in the polls) in 04 and then how they started their media war (with the media leading of course) in 05? We’ve got to do the same.
The early candidates beat the Dem worms.
-lower corporate taxes
-no socialized, government run health care that turns doctors into public servants dictated to by bureaucrats and that’s been proven to sideline elderly (who receive the least care in a socialized system despite having paid in their whole lives)
-fairer, lower, more equal, less penalizing taxation code
budget slashing and more effective, smarter spending on -innovative education and health programs designed at keep kids in school and motivated and, with regard to health programs, ones that are designed to promote good health, key to saving on payment for critical care
