The politics of this shows us what's wrong with America. In a previous era, we would have instantly built new towers, twice as high and twice as strong, and paid the capitalist that accomplished it handsomely. Sigh. I weep for my country.

They should just go ALL the way, and name it alQueda Tower.

I’m surprised they didn’t build mosque there and name it Diversity Plaza.

Since 9/11/2001 I have lost ALL respect for NYers.
God forbid another attack ever happens.
But my reaction shall be very, very different than it was.

This is silly. The towers were, above all, a center for business, and the owner has to make a dollar. "World Trade Center" is a brand to the world.
"Where are your corporate offices?"
"At the WORLD TRADE CENTER."
"Swoooooooon...."
I think naming the tower the same name as before shows defiance of these Al-Qaeda sheet wrappers.

Back then we had gumption and didn’t wait for someone else to help us. We did our problem solving ourselves and were proud of it.
It’s the lily livered wimps who pat our patriots on the head condescendingly and say “my aren’t we fired up,” and then politely request that they not be TOO zealous as it is unfashionable will look ‘weird.’

I think naming the tower the same name as before shows defiance of these Al-Qaeda sheet wrappers. I agree. I like the name. Keeping its old name and making it the tallest building in NY is not being PC. It is the right thing to do. I never liked Freedom Tower name anyways.

boy howdy do I agree. Thats what I thought when this all first started. Rebuild, make it more fire proof, and tell the terrorists to go to hell.

Good point. .. I don’t know, sometimes I just knee jerk react, esp after all the crap going down with the project.
But yeah, just call it the same thing, or World Trade Center II, or Revenge of the World Trade Center. . . .
To: theruleshavechanged
I say get the darn thing built already, then worry about what to call it. Lookit, it’s nearly eight years since the WTC was bowled over by the Bad Men, and there’s still a gaping hole where the buildings used to be!!!
America can build tall buildings much faster than this. Or if America can’t, why not ask the Chinese to do it? They seem capable enough.
One floor per day. Shouldn’t take long before it’s back to it’s original height.

It doesn’t matter what we call the tower.
What matters is that we call al-Qaeda “Dead.”

I got flamed for this a few years ago, but I would have twisted Silverstein's arm and turned the project over to Trump. If Trump had been given a blank check and a mandate to get it done, it would have been done by now-and not the silly buildings they have now. Big, majestic, gleaming, gaudy, capitalist buildings.
Love him or hate him, Trump gets it done.

Did you even think for one-half of a second before condemning ALL NYers? Would your statement include the wives and kids of the Firemen and Police Officers that gave their lives to save people?
Perhaps you should clarify your statement.

Muslim call to prayer will be every morning blaring from loud speakers in the parking structure.....
To: domenad
I always believed that the Twin Towers should have been rebuilt as they originally stood (with perhaps some minor structural changes) as a way of stating emphatically to the Islamic radicals, “Up Yours!!!”.
