[Can we start by ZOTING those stupid mormon threads sixty times a day, seven days a week attempting to brainwash us into believing it is a real religion?]

You have to understand the LDS history of blood atonement to understand just how serious these attacks can be. There is a reason the Mormons got driven out of Kirtland, then Far West, then Nauvoo - mainly for this same type of victimhood turned to revenge.

I have seen it before in my business life here in Vegas, how outsiders are culled and shunned. Now I guess they will try and cull and shun Free Republic.

I will make it a point to shun Mormon posters with a handle of "Roman". It reminds me too much of Harry Dean Stanton's character on "Big Love".

I don't get too wrapped up in the theological aspects of the show. It's got a great cast and "unique" storylines.

Two classic books by classic authors remind us about the real history of the Mormons in America. The stories are "fiction," but contemporary-to-the-time and "fiction" along the same lines that Mario Puzo's "The Godfather" was fiction. I've had too many honest-to-goodness Italians tell me that Puzo's book was as accurate and true an assessment of The Mafia as was ever written.

Zane Grey's "Riders of the Purple Sage" and Arthur Conan Doyle's "A Study in Scarlet" were written a long time ago and both offer pretty startling perspectives of the bloodthirsty tradition of Mormons in those early days. And while it seems a long time ago ... it wasn't really all that long ago.
