In the current situation if you don’t put the constitution and the republic as your first priority then you may likely end up with your beliefs being banished by the Nazi socialists who are in power. History is full of destroyed peoples and civilizations who thought this way. The Jews finally learned the lesson and understand that the freedom to practice as they see fit is tied to the freedoms their government infers on them.

Lol, and what is the history of Christianity? Spread far and wide after Rome fell apart. There will always be “Nazi socialists”rising and falling and murdering many. How many millions of Christians have been murdered in this century alone? When you pick up your cross to follow Christ, martyrdom is a distinct possibility. If you don’t know that going in, it’s not for you

But you make my point. These civilizations were destroyed -- and we're all going to die, anyway. Either way, death awaits us. Therefore, eternity has to retain our foremost attention.

Secondly, if you know anything about history at all, the Assyrians are a group of people which shot themselves in the foot because of their ultra-violence. Even though they repented en masse when Jonah visited them, a generation later they returned to their evil ways. Certainly, a sovereign God knew they would wind up a fraction of what they once were. But what did He do? He still sent Jonah as a missionary to them because of His concern and compassion for them.

Why would God make such a priority on a people group going down culturally? Why? Because even though most of the Assyrians returned to their ugly ways, some of them died before that happened. There's Assyrians from that era in heaven because of God's concern and Jonah's presence there.

Now I'm not by any means suggesting that we need to diminish the culture wars...that needs to be full speed ahead...but that doesn't mean that in order to do so, we call all "Jonah" types home to fight on the home-based front. That's not only a misguided notion, but an offense to a missionary-minded God.
