I have been trying to wrap my head around why Gates is still there.

See that is where I retract what I 1st believed.... I believe he is there as a sacrificial lamb.... so once the sh*t hits the fan in Afghan... the Obambi clan can blame it on Bush/Cheney via Gates/Petraeus.... and then they can try and go after the successes in Iraq.... these people up there in DC are vile and evil and wish for nothing more than the destruction of the USA as we know it.... and the MSM will willfully trot along right in front of it. They have hated this war from the get-go b/c the thesis of it has been to spread democracy..... something they have always repudiated from their vile, evil, corrupted cores.
