"I hope the program does not bring in bad Mexican drivers in the future."

That's what you've been consistently saying throughout your posts.  The reason I've had such a hard time following something you've repeated so clearly is the fact that this program that you're concerned will get out of hand has already been cancelled.  There are no more "current drivers."

The article states that the leftists reneged on the treaty when they "set out to kill it, finally succeeding in the $410 billion omnibus spending bill."  Mexican trucks don't exist in the US, not now nor in the near future.  The issue here is Marxist big government ruining America's economy.

Correct. I should have said "Drivers in the program before the stimulus bill." I apologize. I meant to change my post but forgot.

We'll see. My guess is that Obama will find a way to reinstate the program, while trying not to alienate unions. The issue here is Marxist big government ruining America's economy.

This is a curious case in which the "conservative vs. liberal" paradigm does not hold. Leftist pro-union Hilda Solis (Obama's Sec. of Labor) also is a big NAFTA backer. Conservatives are also divided on the Mexican truck issue, as you can see on this thread.

Maybe this temporary (if I am correct) suspension of the program will lead to a compromise in which Mexico will implement some reforms in enforcing and tracking violations of traffic laws, at least for commercial truck drivers, but that would go against deep rooted Mexican traditions in government and police.
