Dems Want a "Clear Picture" of Budget Deficit

Connecticut State Budget deficits as high as $2 billion dollars were seen on the horizon long ago . Those estimates have now risen to 8 billion with a risk of going much higher now that the State has managed to tick off the indian casinos. We now hear from our leaders in the House an open admission that a "gamesmanship" has been played "up until now" . The game has been to test the validity of gloom and doom predictions, do nothing, and see if the red ink rises. The excuse not to cut spending is that the state does not want to add to the unemployment rolls at a time of recession by terminating frivolous non essential positions. Never mind that our schools are on hard times . Never mind that people laid off from factory jobs lost to China are always told by government to retrain their skills to make themselves marketable in the new economy. This quack medicine long prescribed to the private sector is not acceptable as a remedy for the goverment worker who's employment is no longer affordable. While NY and Massachusettes continue to reduce work forces , cancel projects, and find new revenue streams, Connecticut lead by Jodi Rell, Donald Williams, and Chris Donovan continues to live in a State of denial.........................................................
