LAKEVILLE, Minnesota (CNN) John McCain heard boos at a town hall meeting Friday night after the Republican presidential nominee called for the crowd to be more respectful towards rival Barack Obama.
We would like you to remain a true American hero, an elderly military veteran told him. We want you to fight.
I will fight, but we will be respectful, McCain said. I admire Senator Obama and his accomplishments and I will respect him.
When the crowd began to boo, McCain told them No, no. I want everyone to be respectful.

“It is obvious you are not part of the choir.”
Really, LOL, what choir are YOU referring to? I certainly am in the choir of Conservatives who call for maturity and reasonableness in argument, not some of the rather horrific things said here that are the target of my disdain. Again, if anyone here goes over my comments, I’m exceptionally disappointed in McCain’s politics, which is the mistake you are making. But I am also exceptionally disappointed in members of FR sounding like uncontrolled children. It damages the credibility of this site and the movement. Using four letter words, ugly phrasing, etc. will just get you quoted by the opposition trying to prove their point that we are unhinged. That really is a very simple concept to understand, and yet many here just don’t get it.
How, exactly, does your post relate to my post in any way?
Two things, here.
First, he is running for re-election to the Senate in 2010.
Second, he is part of the opposition, because both he and his daughter are useful idiots of the drive-by media, in so much as their continual bashing of conservatives is used by the media to attack and to discredit conservatism.
Oh, and by the way, next time you would like to address me, please ping me. You’ve been here longer than I am; you ought to know about proper Freeper etiquette by now.
There is a battle going on for control of the GOP and McLame, leader of the liberals, stands in the way of differentiating the party from the democrats. He needs to retire or lose the primary in AZ.
Yes, and so are people who comment on this forum, as often seen during the last election cycle. That is my point. OUR words are used by them also, which is precisely why people should take care with how they express their thoughts.
As I understand things, most Freepers are your everyday, garden-variety citizen. I certainly am. And, as such, we are as much entitled to express ourselves, within the bounds of the law, as any of the ordinary, garden-variety citizens on the left.
McCain, on the other hand, is a public figure. (There is a major difference between a public figure and a garden-variety conservative.) As a result, either he should get in line or get the hell out. The same goes for his daughter too, since by virtue of her family name, she has gained public figure status.
You mean like calling everyone children, or vituperative and emotional, and equating them to Democrats, whether responsive to those you post to or not?
Yeah... you take care now.
Yes, that is what I mean, and using f*** and other intellectual ways of expressing disagreement with this public servant is only demeaning the credibility of the poster’s intellect. Can’t take a bit of constructive criticism, I see.
The Left will also use our silence as an indicator of our approval for their agenda.
His daughter is a flash in the pan. She's young, and older adults should just leave her alone, let the attention run its course. The more we squawk, the more the Left uses it all against us, as they don't discern the differences the same way.
For the record, Meghan McCain is only one year older than me and my contemporary. She has publicly claimed to speak as a representative of my entire generation, tarring all of us young conservatives as aberrations.
If you think that I am going to just sit down and shut up and let her make me, and the rest of my fellow young conservatives, look like a bunch of fools, you are terribly mistaken.
If we let it go and turn our energy to something we can elect in four years, isn't that a better use of our power?
And how exactly do you expect me to expend energy on furthering the conservatarian agenda when McCain and the rest of the RINOs are running amok, drowning out my voice with their falsehoods? How? And with his spawn claiming to speak on my behalf?
Get rid of the RINO dead weight, including both of the McCain, and maybe conservatives will stand a chance in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
After using ad homonyms and straw man arguments, calling names and then castigating some one for having the audacity to call your spew, spew.
Nice twisting of facts shown on this thread. Just deciding everyone here is childish and foolish except you (your superiority is as obvious as Obama's) so that liberal republicans can be encouraged (don't counter them, right) is classic HPD symptoms.
You could be a case study for the AMA Journal.
The only cure is to talk into a mirror so the projective nature of the disorder can reveal it's self.
Isn't Michelle just lovely, her arms are so toned!
LOL. Good luck with your way of doing things, you seem doomed to learn the hard way.
I don't see you criticizing a specific post, or poster.
I see you making broad brush allegations, smearing a whole host of posters that did no such thing.
It's a slimy liberal tactic and it has no place here, IMO.
McCain is only running amok with the Left, not with anyone else. You and he are putty in their hands. Frankly, you could be a lurker from the Left. I as do many of us older Freepers find all McCain bashing boring now, and am convinced that there is an ulterior motive. If not, you are wasting your time.

LOL!! You must be very young.
McCain is still a sitting senator. He is running for reelection. He still supports amnesty and a cap and trade system, the former will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen and the latter will wreck the economy for generations.
Again, if anyone here goes over my comments, Im exceptionally disappointed in McCains politics. But I am also exceptionally disappointed in members of FR sounding like uncontrolled children.
Who appointed you hallroom monitor? Spare us your supercilious air of superiority.
Using four letter words, ugly phrasing, etc. will just get you quoted by the opposition trying to prove their point that we are unhinged.
FR already has rules governing posts. And frankly my dear, I could give a damn what the opposition may say about us.
You spiked the needles.
Hopefully you will be caught using the computer by those charged with watching over you.

“Slimy liberal tactic,” ROTFL! You are rude, but at least you don’t try to cover it up. Thank you for proving my point so succinctly. Go back to Thursday and look for a McCain bashing post and you will see what I mean. (Unless they have been removed, as they were against FR rules.) It’s all the same crowd, and many are here again today. Bye bye, on to better and more mature posts.
