JACKSON, Miss. -- President Barack Obama on Friday nominated former Mississippi Gov. Ray Mabus to be secretary of the Navy, choosing a political supporter with a two-year career in the service.
Mabus, 60, is a Democrat and campaigned extensively for Obama last year. He had been previously talked about as a candidate for a place in Obama's cabinet as secretary of education.
If confirmed, Mabus would succeed Navy Secretary Donald C. Winter. The secretary is the civilian leader of the service and is responsible for a wide range of duties, from recruiting and mobilizing to overseeing the construction and repair of ships, equipment and facilities.

Ray Mabus and the Haitian dictator
American Thinker Blog quotes from todays Wall Street Journal in an article that implicates Ray Mabus foreign policy advisor to Barack Obama, Clintons ambassador to Saudi Arabia (glad he took care of those problems), and former Mississippi governor whom Kirk Fordice saved us from in a telecom deal with other Democrats to rip-off the Haitian people in concert with their strongman dictator Jean Bertrand Aristide. This is from the Wall Street Journal piece:

Democrats for Despotism Party figures had a profitable relationship with Haiti's dictator.
Haitians continued alleging that well-connected Americans were conspiring to rip off their impoverished country, and I kept writing about it. But the FCC did nothing until December 2006, when the IDT whistleblower asked the FCC for the Haiti file with the contracts. Lo and behold, the FCC said that the file had disappeared from its records room.
When the FCC asked carriers to help it reconstruct the file, Fusion produced the 1999 document. But when I filed to see it under the Freedom of Information Act, the company spent 11 months fighting my request.

Governor's Reformist Image May Hinge on Party Dispute
A simmering dispute here over leadership of the state's Democratic Party is threatening to tarnish the progressive and reformist image of Gov. Ray Mabus by raising the specter of racial politics three months after he took office.
At issue is Mr. Mabus's attempt to oust the party's acting state chairman, Ed Cole, who hopes to become the first black Democrat to lead a state party.

Is Mabus gay? Wasn’t there a rumor about such? (I remember the stories about Bill Allain, too.)
I wonder if Team Obamacorn remembered to check this joker for back taxes. Should be interesting since the guy is a DemocRAT. It’s good to see that Obama is taking care of his “flock” by making sure they all have good jobs.
Is Mabus gay?
I never heard that. He was Mississippi’s version of Bill Clinton.
Thank God for Kirk Fordice, rest his soul.
Nostradamus for Navy Secretary? He doesn’t have any experience in that, does he?
I don’t know where I got that. Probably something a family member once said, and it’s probably just nonsense. Mabus served in the Navy.
The List, ping
If confirmed, Mabus would succeed acting Secretary of the Navy BJ Penn who assumed the office when Winter resigned on the 13th of March.
Oh, good. A NAVSEC with two entire years in service. By Obama’s standards that makes him a grizzled vet, I suppose. Pray for the sailors and Marines.
“former Mississippi Gov. Ray Mabus to be secretary of the Navy — No, this is not good news!!!!” In fact, this just ruined my weekend!
This guy is not qualified to lead the worlds finest Navy!
Dear God, please, do not let Ray Mabus destroy the U.S. Navy! Please God, I’m begging you!
You’ve got me there. I believe I’m too young.
Well, yeah, what else would you expect?
What I meant to say was, that Fordice was Bill Clinton's mirror image.
not to denigrate his service, by any means, but honestly . . .
So now we have it.....
.....If you are even thinking Nostradamus was possibly predicting the Anti-Christ, we have a Mabus with no interpretation or anagrams necessary right here in the Obama Administration.
Add to that the Mayan Calendar ending in 2012 and....well.....it's pretty creepy to think we could be seeing the real thing unfold.....
The Clabber-Ledger is still being published? A typical Gannet rag.
