Paul Ryan is no RINO.

He is one of, if not the most conservative member of the House, and his depth of knowledge of economics is second to none. He is a staunch supporter of free markets and fiscal responsibility. He has never taken an earmark, and criticized members of his own party for doing so long before it became fashionable.

There is a populist element to the issue of these bonuses, and it was one that Ryan, given the realities of his district (which he won overwhelmingly, despite the fact that many of the same people also voted for Obama, who also won in the WI 1CD) had no choice but to address.

I suspect he feels the same way I do about the bonuses: they are less wrong than the bailout that enabled them.
