If we boil this down, this is all about not wanting Brazil to endure any emissions cuts under the Kyoto process, and Lula is playing the race card in what is a novel defense against the environmental totalitarians.
In a sense, I can’t blame him. I’d say pretty much anything to stop my country’s economy from being ruined by global bureaucrats.

And good points. Lula da Silva, and other liberal/socialists in South America, rose to power mainly because of those So. Amer. countries seeing the effects of Liberal Free Trade Globalism on Latin American countries (esp Mexico)
Unfortunately, it has led to a Communist/neo-Communist takeover of most of South America...the extreme blow-back of Liberal Free Trade Globalism
