WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain has no illusions about the 2008 White House race.
"God bless them," McCain said Thursday at the Heritage Foundation when reminded of the tens of millions of people who voted for him last year.
"Over 50 million people voted for me and Sarah Palin - mostly for Sarah Palin," McCain said to an eruption of laughter. But "there was a sizable majority of the other party returned to Congress. And, elections have consequences. Elections have consequences. And these consequences we are seeing now in full display."

Sorry to inform you but Lincoln was a lawyer. Palin is so over-rated. It seems like she relies heavily on her male supporters to defend her inadequacies. That’s not the kind of leadership I am looking for. I get why the men are manipulated by her. Usually, this kind of female antics aren’t used in the political arena. I just don’t understand where Palin’s female support is coming from. It makes no sense at all. Palin will never be ready, she is too narcissistic and is a manipulator. She is a spoiled woman who is used to getting her way. It might work with a small fringe within the Republican Party, but it will never get her elected to be President. Do you ever listen to her? Or do you like getting manipulated and like pretending that Palin has something to say? I find it to all be very facsinating. It will be the death of the Republican Party if this nonsense continues.
Lawyer, LOL, I am a ret. Leg. Support Asst. with the County Attys.
Worked with over 100 in just one Dept.
Many had no clue about the real world and most were liberals.
Your Romney could take lessons on to run a state from Gov. Palin.
At least Gov. Palin’s adult son is in the Army serving in Iraq.
Romney has 5 sons and not one has served in the Military.
Yeah and I guess that about 10% of that was voter fraud from ACORN.
I think she would have kept his feet to the reform fire and would in the end, even if McCain was President, have saved the Nation and the world economy.
“Over 50 million people voted for me and Sarah Palin - mostly for Sarah Palin,” McCain said to an eruption of laughter.”
Why the laugher? That was no joke, that’s what really happened!
