Whats the problem here? Everyone has an excuse for their speeding and running red lights. Why is his reaosn more valid than mine or yours?

Boy you must have a job that pays you A LOT of money.

Because with a comment like that, the only way you have ANY friends, is to buy them. And they'd have to be REEEEAALL expensive to put up with your attitude.

Some have an excuse. Moats had a reason and he showed a lot of poise and restraint, more than I would have. Why is his reason more valid? I listen to my heart and I try to follow what Jesus taught, but in this case I find it hard not to wish something medieval ugly and Old Testament on the "officer" in repayment for his being unusually cruel.

The difference between reasons and excuses is that "excuses" don't get that sort of reaction out of me. I suspect that a jury would feel the same way that I do in favor of Mr. Moats and his family.
