In the rush to garner one more ticket toward his monthly quota and improve bottom line revenue ...er, I mean, protect and serve the officer could have escorted the SUV to the hospital, checked out the story and then, given a ticket.
But then, that might have taken an additional 10 busy minutes of his day or something ...
We need more Andy Taylors in law enforcement and a helluva lot fewer Barney Fifes.

I agree. He could have followed them and made a determination. What I don’t condone, and I haven’t seen the vidoe, is the apparant repugnant behavior of the officer. Most officers that I worked with would have handled the situation differently.

My brother was a city cop and he pulled over plenty of people only to issue a warning or cut someone a break who seemed on the up and up. One lady he pulled over doing something stupid, he ran her for warrants and finding nothing noticed that she was born on December 25th. Told her that he bet when she was a kid she got cheated on birthday presents due to the date. Lady looked at him and said that was true. He handed her license back, told her that he was giving her a present to make up for all the times she had been beat out of a gift and told her to slow down then walked away w/o issuing a ticket.
Plenty of opportunities for cops to use their own good judgment.
