ROMNEY: Cautionary tale of card check Mitt Romney Wednesday, March 25, 2009

** FILE ** Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Mr. Romney submitted a column to The Washington Times as part of the Reinventing Conservatism series. (Astrid Riecken/The Washington Times)

ANALYSIS/OPINION: (Part of our Reinventing Conservatism series)

In 2006, my last year as governor of Massachusetts, I vetoed a card-check bill that allowed public workers to organize if a majority signed union authorization cards as opposed to casting a traditional secret ballot. The veto was a gain for the rights of employees and employers to a fair election, but the victory was short-lived.

Thank Mike Huckabee for that. It is clear that he had some sort of agreement with McLame to drain votes away from Mitt. I hope Huckabee is happy. Play that guitar, church-boy.

It wasn't Huckabee or Romney that caused McLame to be our nominee. It was the stupid voters who listened to the lame stream media who told us how awesome McLame was and how hard he would be to beat in a general election. BTW, the drive-by told us that only until McLame was nominated......

Interesting you are calling me a liberal rodent because I said a supportive comment regarding Mitt, when by Romney haters like you squashing Mitt and getting McCain we got O-baa-m-UH. Mitt is the only one who could have possibly beaten Obama. He wasn't a Washingtonite and he had financial experience that neither of those other two candidates had.

Who's the liberal rodent now?

By the way I too want a true conservative in any office I vote for. Quit the stupid name calling. It lower you to a status below liberal rodent scum if one exists. When you feed on your own you are Obama. Maybe you could check into a job with ACORN. I hear they are hiring.

"ROMNEY: Cautionary tale"

I was thinking how great and telling the first part of the headline is. ;-)

SSDD for the Mitt lovers:

“You guys love Obama”..

“You can't present an argument yada yada yada...”

(despite numerous unaddressed post that point out Mitt's lousy record)”

If it weren’t for Non Sequitirs and whining you guys would have nothing to post...

Yup...

He's so dreamy dontcha know..

Sheesh we are going to have to deal with these Romney clowns until he either officially announces he is out for 2012 or he runs out of money to pay his sycophants who gin up his "supporters" especially the Conservative wannabes...

Then again, TPTB could clean out the trash right now. It’s about two years overdue.

I think they come under the Ron Paul Supporter clause:

“For entertainment purpose only”...

Me thinks TBTB have a wicked sense of humor and enjoy the twisted logic of the “Conservative” Mitt supporters...

They should keep one, maybe the kook Restornu, but the others need to go. Thousands of these threads are well past being funny. It’s just a waste of bandwith.

>>>>>>Mitt is and has been in the trenches for us all along.

What a flat out lie!

Willard opposed the two most successful conservative policy endeavors of the last 30 years --- the Reagan policy agenda of the 1980`s and the agenda advanced through Newt Gingrich`s Contract With America.

So does this mean you will be voting for the Finney party in the next election?

I am always amazed at how nearly everyone that hates Mitt has to attack the people that say positive things about him. It really says more to me about your ability or more lack there of to argue your point intelligently instead of just insulting people on this thread.

Attacking the messenger instead of the message is usually a sign the person can't intelligently argue their point.

I myself will defend myself against attacks if I am attacked.

What I am generally learning with the exception of a few decent and reasonably, well argued disagreements on this thread, is that many Mitt haters aren't very intelligent and certainly do not have the ability to argue their points without personal attacks or attacking the messenger.

Nothing bugs me more than those that aren't very bright and bully others because they are so mentally frail.

i have been busy tonight reading Levin's new book and listening to Atlas Shrugged while people on this thread call me horrible names, tell me to leave, make all sorts of silly attacks all because I made a supportive comment and left to go educate myself further about being a better and stronger active and effective conservative for our country. Go shite on someone else and beat up on others because you are weak and small.

I know for a fact he is fighting off that idiot Al Franken from taking a seat as we speak and has contributed money from a PAC meant for him to do so as well as the time he put in out on the campaign trail to try to get McCain elected because he knew how dangerous Obama was even though McCain and Huckabee treated him like dog do-do.

This is some of what I was talking about "all along." Right now I am talking about the last year, but I can understand I was not specific and rightly you made up you own mind of what that meant. I'll give you that.

So saying a positive comment regarding a politician makes me a "lover." Hilarious. Many have show signs of hatred and can thusly be called haters. I merely made a positive comment. Does that mean if I make a positive comment about you I am a ejonesie22 lover?

Uh . . . NO!

FRee Republic is a conservative forum. Not a GOP forum. The Republican Party gave up on conservatism and paid the price in the 2006 and 2008 elections. Romney’s record is that of a life long liberal. His last minute conversion on the eve of running for president had more to do with political expediency, than principled conservatism.

I agree with Finny. Go away Mitt.

I live in Massachusetts (walking distance from Romney's home).

Recently I was unemployed long enough for my COBRA coverage to run out. Dreading my upcoming ordeal, I did a quick Google search for available individual coverage. In a few minutes I was signed up with Blue Cross. A better plan than I had with the old employer and about a hundred less. No lengthy form. No doctor's exam. Just fill out basic details and submit!

How's it work in your state?

So now we that make positive comments about Mitt Romney are clowns. "Romney clowns." Smart. You guys are going to have a very long road ahead of you if you piss people with my values off with such personal attacks.

Might need to get used to being in the minority party for a long, long dry spell. As a am a solid conservative--fiscally and socially and to the death. I am also a pragmatist. If you are calling me a clown and discussing getting rid of fellow conservative like me and treating people such as myself like crap you might as well bend over for a very long, hard, dry ride by the donkey.

Why would BOTH Boston newspapers report that Romney killed the GOP?

Couldn't possibly be true. The Massachusetts GOP was long since dead and gone (except for the governorship) when Romney arrived on the scene.
