By this definition neither candidate was a natural born citizen. Nor is Bobby Jindal.

Your name truly fits your argument. Neither McCain or Jindal are the President, your point is moot.

Nice try

Neither is my older brother for that matter. (LOL!)

My dad was born in Norway in ’23 and came here when he was about 7 years old. Right after Pearl Harbor, he tried to enlist in the military but was turned down because he wasn’t a citizen. A year later he was drafted and served with honor in an infantry unit in the South Pacific.

I’ve been helping my niece with her Ancestry.com project and last weekend I brought a metal box containing all my dad’s papers – among them, birth certificates, his Army life insurance policy, his discharge papers and his naturalization document.

He didn’t officially become a naturalized citizen until 1950; a year after my brother was born. But interestingly I also found a letter from one of his commanders during the war that shows he attempted to get naturalized while in the army but the government lost his initial paperwork.

I recall my father telling me that the judge conducting the swearing ceremony told my dad it was only a formality since when he took the oath of military service and his distinguished service record that had already become a citizen.

I don’t know if that’s legally true or not or whether or not my brother is a “natural born” citizen, but I’ve had great fun telling my brother that he isn’t, were as I am. :),

The author is an idiot.

Natural born citizen means simply this...

By the natural act of being born, one had U.S. citizenship.

A natural born citizen is thus one who did not need a “naturalization” process to become a citizen, as by the natural act of being born they are a citizen.

McCain was born on a military base which is considered to be US soil.
