If by "mental issues" you mean that he has an extreme case of narcissistic personality disorder - two autobiographies before the age of 45. He has abandonment issues, not just with his mother, but also with his father. Also, he clearly is predisposed to addictive tendencies as seen by his compulsive smoking habit and his cocaine "experimentation" as a young man - not to mention his fitness regimen which I think can be fairly described as obsessive.
What else is interesting, and perhaps others can comment here, is he doesn't seem to have any friends and he certainly doesn't have any long term friendships. Not one person from either his childhood or his high school experiences has maintained any kind of relationship with him. I find this very curious.
And lastly, I think he suffers from bi-polar disorder. I think we're most use to seeing is melancholy mood, which is misinterpreted by the media as his "calm demeanor". But, sometimes we're treated to his manic state as witnessed by the "60 Minutes" interview where Steve Kroft asked him if he was "punch drunk".
If that's what you meant by "mental issues", then I agree completely.

I pointed this out to people during the campaign as a very telling sign of inadequacies in his personality - that he sees people as items to be used - but I usually got a blank stare from folks whe were persuaded by the Dncmedia that he was the answer to America’s problems.
He had groupies, including Hollywood and Oprah, but not childhood or school friends!
